UPDATE: Howard Univ. AKA’s Accused of ‘Witness Tampering’ in Lawsuit

alpha kappa alpha*On March 8, we reported that Howard University seniors Laurin Compton and Lauren Cofield decided to sue Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., over human rights violations for not admitting them into the sorority and ignoring their “legacy” status–which means that both of their mothers are members of the AKA sorority.

The case took a turn recently as AKA’s at Howard were accused of witness tampering for allegedly suspending the privileges of their mothers Sandra Compton and Lessie Cofield, during the case.

The action of the sorority against the parents caused Compton to not attend a hearing, according to the plaintiffs. Judge Rosemary Collyer found the tampering “deplorable,” but she did not penalize the sorority, according to the Huffington Post.
